Researches on the Reproductive Characteristics of Simmental Cattle in Commercial Farms in Kayseri

The study was carried out to investigate the reproductive characteristics of Simmental cattle which were imported from Germany and raised in commercial farm conditions in Kayseri. As the study was conducted in various farms a common care and feeding program could not be applied. In the statistical analysis of data, x²-test for ratios, Duncan-test for the comparisons of mean values in groups of these data were used in GLM procedure in SAS program. In the Simmental cattle in the study gestation rate was 96.0%; no abortion was observed and twinning rate was 4.2%. First gestation and calving age was 20.67 and 29.98 months, number of inseminations was 1.94, gestation length was 282.55 days, open period was 95.49 days, calving interval was 377.74 days. The reproductive results of the cows in the present study were at standard levels.
