Researches on the Milk Production Characteristics of Simmental Cattle in Commercial Farms in Kayseri

The study was carried out to investigate the milk production characteristics of Simmental cattle which were imported from Germany and raised in commercial farm conditions in Kayseri. As the study was conducted in various farms a common care and feeding program could not be applied. In the statistical analysis of data, Duncan test for the comparisons of mean values in groups were used in GLM procedure in SAS program. In the Simmental cattle in the study of lactation duration was 310.20 days, lactation and 305 days milk yield was 3368.11 and 3292.22 kg, dry period was 71.58 days. It was found that the milk productions of the cattle in the study were not at expected levels and milk productions in the investigated dairy farms can be improved by the use of appropriate care and feeding applications.
