There has been a significant increase in the number of private pet clinics in Turkey. Similar to other enterprises, veterinary clinics face some problems during their establishment and operating periods. In this study, the technological state and financial structure of private pet clinics in İstanbul province were assessed, and problems faced by the clinics were examined.

According to the results of the study, it was determined that 93% of the clinics obtained their establishment finance by their own sources. In the total expenditures of the veterinary clinics, vaccine, medicine and rental costs have the highest shares (%15-19). Cats and dogs are the most common species being brought to the clinics. The highest incomes of the clinics are the incomes of vaccinations, inspections and treatments. The most frequent services given in the clinics are inspection, treatment, vaccination and surgical operations. More than half of the clinics cannot get the price that they requested. The most significant problems faced by the clinics at the period of establishment are to obtain finance, to choose the place of the enterprise and to obtain personnel. The most significant problems faced during operating the clinic are financial problems, ethic problems and the lack of the knowledge of accountancy and management.
