The material of the study was 3 owncrly dogs, two of which have died or euthanased in 1995 and one in 1996 for various reasons. Nematodes were found in the heart of three dogs and in the A.pulmonalis of one of three. Parasites were identified as Dirofilaria immitis according to their morphological pecularities and localisation.

In this study Dirofilaria immitis that causes hcartworm disease in dog was reported for the first time in Istanbul.
